Beyond Program Web sites at Barton Community College, some instructors maintain Department Web sites, which link back to the Program pages. These additional sites serve as ways for instructors to share additional information with their students and the public. Program Web sites serve as the entry point utilized on the Web for prospective students, who are looking for program information. Department Web sites serve as information sources for the public, reaching beyond initial information for prospective students. Likewise, Department Web sites are not meant to serve as primary communication tools between instructors and students. For that purpose, instructors maintain e-Companion course shells within the e-College Course Management System to communicate electronically with their respective students.
