Barton Community College is a comprehensive, public, two-year community college. The college has campuses in Barton County and in Fort Riley, with a service area surrounding the Barton County Campus that spans 5,486 square miles and seven counties. It also has an outreach site in Junction City.
Barton Community College operates under the mandate of the people of Barton County, Kansas, as expressed by an election held on April 6, 1965, authorized by Kansas House bill #893-1963, and approved by the State Superintendent of Education in July 1965. A Board of Trustees elected by Barton County residents governs the College.
